Tiamiyu Precious Emerges As Winner of Child Painting Contest

Tiamiyu Precious emerges Winner of Vision of the Child Painting Contest | Wins N250,000 Cash Prize

It’s always great to see young children discovering their talents at a young age and developing it even to
the point of getting some national recognition for it. At the age of nine, Tiamiyu Precious is already
harnessing his creativity at an impressive level.

The pupil of Legacy Preparatory School, Sha-Sha, Lagos recently beat 188 other pupils drawn from 400
schools to emerge the winner of the Child Art competition for pupils between the ages of 8 and 12.

His captivating and thought-provoking painting piece, with 

the theme “Sad Faces of Nigerians,” was adjudged the best by the panel of judges made up of a professional artist based in North Carolina, Tunde Afolayan and Chief Executive Officer, Nike Art Gallery, Nike Okundaye.

For his efforts, he was given a cash prize of N250,000 and a kiddies’ account at Diamond Bank. Also, a multi-talented artist, Chief Jimi Solanke, gave him a copy of his book, in appreciation.

Vision of the Child painting competition is one of the highlights of the Lagos Black Heritage Festival, which seeks to develop the creativity of the young ones based on their perception and observation of happenings in the society. The theme of this year’s contest was ‘The Thousand and one faces of Corruption,’ which was on exhibition from March 25 to April 1, spanning the duration of the festival.
