HIGH SCHOOL

The High School is for learners who have completed at least the Year 5 in the Preparatory School.

Admission is based on success at the Entrance Examination organized by the school at which a candidate is expected to score a  minimum of 50% of the overall score. The High School is organized into the Key Stages 3 and 4. Key Stage 3 being the Years 7, 8 & 9 and Key Stage 4, being Years 10, 11 and 12.

Key Stage 3

Teaching and Learning at this stage is based on an integrated curriculum of the British and Nigerian Curricula. Students offer subjects from the British curriculum leading to the Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint Examinations (at the end of Year 9) in English Language, Mathematics, Science – which is made up of  Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The feedback from the Checkpoint examinations assists the school and parents in designing a learning programme suitable for the student.

Students also offer subjects in the Nigerian curriculum leading to the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the end of Year 9. Subjects offered include the core subjects and electives taken from English Language, Mathematics, Business Studies, Basic Science and Tech, Cultural and Creative Art, French, Pre-Vocational Studies, Religion and National Value, Agricultural Science, Business Studies and Home Economics.

Students learning is enhanced through a rich curriculum and a delivery that places them at the centre of teaching and learning.

Key Stage 4

Classes in this Key Stage include Year 10, 11, and 12. Students at this stage specialize in one of the three subject areas: Science, Art, and Commercial. Subjects offered from the Nigerian Curriculum include the core subjects of Mathematics, English Language, Civic Education, ICT and a trade subject (Fisheries). Students select other subjects based on specialized subject aeas.
